  • How To

As Periscope is getting a bigger and bigger fandom, broadcasting is quickly taking over the world of video sharing. And while YouTube will probably never cede its position as GoPro users’ number one go-to channel, broadcasting does seem to have its own special charm.

How do you make a broadcast in Periscope directly from your GoPro? Glad you asked. Here’s what you’ll need to do.

First things first.

  • Prepare the right ingredients. Make sure you are using GoPro Hero 4 + and an iPhone 5S/6/6+/6S.6S+ with iOS 8.2 and above. This is what you will need to be able to broadcast on Periscope from your GoPro. Sorry Android + older GoPros.
  • Install the app. Download and install the GoPro app from the App Store on your iPhone.
  • Follow in-app instructions. Read and follow the instructions within the app and pair your GoPro with your iPhone.
  • Go to Settings. When pairing is complete, go to Settings App>WiFi>Select your GoPro
  • Start broadcasting. Put your GoPro in video mode, start Periscope and tap on Broadcast. You’re all set.

Things to remember:

Leaving Periscope app on your phone will end the broadcast.

iPhone 5 and 5c devices will broadcast but NOT save your broadcast to Cameral Roll.

During the broadcast, you can select the camera source (from which you would like to broadcast). You can choose between GoPro, front iPhone cam or back iPhone cam. Swipe right to make the selection.
